Samsung, the renowned South Korean tech giant, has globally unveiled its latest smartphone series at the Samsung Galaxy s24 Unpacked Event 2024 in San Jose, California. The lineup includes three phones: the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24.
According to The Verge, the new Samsung S24 series introduces AI-infused features, and a key highlight is that these features are consistent across all models, whether you choose the $799.99 Galaxy S24, the $999.99 Galaxy S24 Plus, or the $1,299.99 Galaxy S24 Ultra. In the United States, all phones are equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processors, ensuring similar on-device AI performance.
Samsung commits to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for all three phones, aligning with Google’s extensive support for its Pixel 8 lineup.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra stands out with its titanium frame, providing enhanced durability without compromising weight. Unlike Apple, Samsung prioritizes endurance over reducing weight. The S24 Ultra’s display is a 6.8-inch 1440p flat screen, a departure from the curved edges of the Note series.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the S24 Ultra offers three storage options: 12GB+1TB, 12GB+512GB, and 12GB+256GB. Notably, it features an advanced thermal control system for improved gaming performance, including ray tracing for realistic graphics.
The S24 series introduces AI-powered picture and video editing tools, represented by a star icon in the UI. These tools include the ability to isolate, resize, reposition, or eliminate photo subjects. The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus build upon the S23 devices with larger and brighter screens, improved camera resolutions, and battery capacities of 4,000mAh and 4,900mAh, respectively.
All Galaxy S24 devices run on Android 14 and Samsung’s OneUI 6.1. Samsung emphasizes a commitment to seven years of OS and security updates, setting a new standard in the industry.
The One UI 6.1 on the Galaxy S24 series enhances AI applications, with features like interpreter and live translation for two-way, real-time text and voice translations during phone calls. The innovative Circle to Search with Google feature revolutionizes online search with a gesture-driven approach.
S24 Samsung’s voice recorder now offers Pixel-like live transcriptions with speaker labels and translation capabilities. The Notes app introduces automatic formatting and summarization features.
Samsung plans to extend these AI capabilities to the S23-series , s24 phones and the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 in the future, as reported by The Verge.
