A youth was apprehended for disregarding security measures and approaching cricketer Virat Kohli to embrace him during the India-Afghanistan T20 match at Holkar Stadium in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday, as the star batsman was actively fielding at that moment, according to the police.
Following his detention, law enforcement officials escorted the young man to the Tukoganj police station. According to a police official, the youth possessed a valid ticket for the match and gained entry through the Narendra Hirwani Gate at Holkar Stadium. Described as a fervent Virat Kohli enthusiast, the young man scaled the fence of the spectators’ gallery with the aim of meeting the player while he was actively participating in the match.
The police officer stated that the youth is currently undergoing interrogation. The subsequent course of action will be determined based on the information gathered during the questioning, the official added. In the match held in Indore, India emerged victorious against Afghanistan by six wickets.
